Screw Steam

Screw Steam
  • Interface
  • Installation
  • Annoying ads

I bought and played my Football Manager 2012 via Steam, the online digital way to purchase, download, update and enjoying the game where it’s all automated.

Sounds like a great idea right.

But so far it has been a nightmare for me. Firstly you can’t start the game unless you’re connected to the Steam server. What kind of crap is that.

I’ve paid and bought the game legit, and I can’t even play it in offline mode. What if my laptop is out of my house with no wifi connection. How the hell am I to pass time when I can’t even enjoy what I’ve purchased. Suck my own dick then?

Fcuk you Steam!

Secondly the install for this game is very complicated. God knows where they installed the local files. You can’t even ‘hack’ the game to your liking.

What about the add-on graphics and files by fans for which you can’t use. I might be wrong here, but so far I ain’t see an option for such an addition to the game.

Fcuk you Steam!

Then come the issue with the game play. FM2012 is a great game but the Steam interface is total bullshit. More than often every time I load the game, if the Steam server is busy, it will reject my request to initialise Football Manager.

Steam should have contingencies plan for this. You know you’ve thousands of players online and you’re doing crap about it. I paid for this service and you’re failing miserably.

screw steam

This is my game as I was diagnosing it for errors on why it won't start up. So frustrating. That's 40 minutes of my time that I won't get back. Screw you Steam! I am having withdrawal syndrome as I can't play FM2012

Fcuk you Steam!

And half the time when I want to play FM2012, it would display the “game is currently unavailable – please try again” error. Can you please be more specific on the error?

Is it on my end or yours that’s causing the problem. Well I’ve found a way to solve the problem on my own. The online help I tried on Steam support board is total crap. Didn’t help me a bit.

It seems that if you got such an error, it means that the game is trying to initialise and the error occurred as it can’t find the game. But hold on, it was Steam who installed the game, why can’t it find FM2012!

The solution

  1. Well for reason unknown that’s the reason why and just accept it. You first need to logout and login again into your Steam account.
  2. It might be that your password and login is incorrect for reasons unknown. Do this just to be sure you’ve the right one.
  3. Then go under FM2012 game settings. To get to this point you’ve to dabble around Steam crappy interface. When you get to the FM2012 game icon, right mouse click, there will be the “settings” shortcut.
  4. Next you need to ‘verify game cache files’. It’s among under the settings tabs, choose as instructed.
  5. After doing so, it will do a check. This will ensure the game is installed right.
  6. Once done which will take minutes, and sometimes more if it requires downloading update files, play the game next. It works for me most of the time.
  7. If after the above still doesn’t help, well contact Steam and by all means please screw them!

Lastly fcuk you Steam for causing me all this trouble!

This is the last time I’ll ever try such a similar service to Steam. Please buy games the old school way. Go to the store, and get the game physically. It will save you a lot of heartache and trouble.
